If you’re reading this in email, you’re subscribed to the new SCVGS mailing list. Our new list has about 100 subscribers. Thanks for signing up.
The new list differs from the old in that you manage your own subscription. Here are some notes on how to do that.
How do I unsubscribe? Each email message from the list, including this one, has an “Unsubscribe” link all the way down at the bottom. Click to unsubscribe.
How do I subscribe again after I’ve unsubscribed? Go to the SCVGS website. At upper right, it says “Mailing List”. Enter your email address in the box below the instructions, and click the “Subscribe” button. You are not subscribed yet! You’ll be sent an email requesting confirmation, and you’re subscribed when you reply.
Why might I want to unsubscribe and subscribe again? You might want to turn off your SCVGS messages while on vacation, or for the summer. It’s up to you.
What if I change email addresses? The best thing is to subscribe with your new address and unsubscribe using email sent to your old one. Please let Russ know about the change.
Can I stay subscribed but receive fewer messages? Yes. Each message you receive also has a link saying “Manage Subscriptions”. This takes you to a page for controlling frequency. Messages can be sent immediately, daily, or weekly. You might like the weekly setting.
Can I manage my subscription without using the links in my email? Yes. If you like, you can go to WordPress and sign up for a user ID and password. Then you can manage your subscription by logging in at the WordPress website.
Can I post messages to the new list? In general, no. You can comment by using the “Add a comment” link at the bottom of a message. WordPress gives us up to 35 authors for free. Currently we have 10 or 12. If you’d like to write to all club members on an ongoing basis, let us know, and we’ll get you set up. Or ask an officer or SIG leader to post for you.
Can I receive posts without using email? Yes. There’s new-fangled technology called a “feed reader” and our website will send posts to your reader. Easy to use but hard to explain.
What if I have a different question? Please send me email and let me know.
