NARA Talks on Military Records at YouTube

Are you hankering for a genealogy lecture while your club’s taking its summer break?

The National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) has a YouTube station. The videos vary in content and quality, but today I ran across three that are quite good. They’re talks given by John Deeben, one of NARA’a genealogy archive specialists. All three are on military records, varying in length from six to nine minutes. They cover:

  1. Volunteer Service
  2. Army and Navy
  3. Pension Records

The third of these was just uploaded today. I don’t know if more are coming.

Some of these records, or indexes to them, are available via Footnote, to which our club has a subscription.

Click on the links in the list to satisfy your genealogy-lecture cravings.
