There are a couple of upcoming events you might want to mark on your calendar.
Here in Tucson, the Pima County Genealogical Society has advertised a day-long series of classes with the title “Family History in the 21st Century” on Saturday October 29th. The event runs from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Please see this post for further info. Joan Eddy, our Field Trip co-ordinator, will have a sign-up sheet at our October meeting for those who would like to share a ride to this event.
In Salt Lake City, in January, the Utah Genealogical Association is sponsoring the “Salt Lake Institute of Genealogy 2012.” This runs from January 23 – 27. Information on registering for the conference is available at this web page, while the brochure detailing speakers and topics is available here. Instructors include well-known authors such as John Philip Colletta (They Came in Ships) and Drew Smith (Social Networking for Genealogists). Topics include specialized ones like “Midwest U.S. Research” (20 classes) and “Swedish Research” (17 classes). Have a look at at the brochure for details, if you’re at all interested. (Thanks to Lynne Brooke for calling my attention to this conference.)
