Our November General Meeting is this Tuesday the 8th at 1 p.m. in the Navajo Room, in the Social hall.
Chris Seggerman is our guest speaker. Chris is a graduate of ASU (don’t hold it against him) and now works as a research associate with the Genealogy Collection of the Arizona State Library in Phoenix. He will tell us about “Using Newspapers for Research.” At our club rooms, members have access to GenealogyBank, “the largest newspaper archive for family history research,” and also to the newspaper collection at Ancestry.com. Hear Chris explain the value of these resources, which we often overlook when focusing on birth, marriage, and death dates.
The Program Committee has a questionnaire to distribute at the meeting, asking about your preferred topics for the 2012 – 2013 year. Let us know what you’d like to hear about.
Ken Jordan will be happy to collect your dues for 2012. ($15 per person, or $25 per household; please make checks payable to “SCVGS.”)
The Beginners Class starts in January, but is already full. There will be a sign-up sheet for the waiting list.
There are also upcoming SIG meetings, and various other goings-on. Come hear all about them!
