WSJ Article, Newer Genealogy Sites

An article in today’s Wall Street Journal discusses how genealogy is changing, influenced by social networking. It also mentions some newer web sites.

WeRelate is partly sponsored by the well-known Allen County Public Library. It’s designed to share data as well as family trees, and was selected by Family Tree Magazine as one of the 101 best websites for 2011. David Fryxell, our January speaker, wrote the magazine article that mentions WeRelate.

Mocavo is a new search engine specializing in genealogy data. Dick Eastman wrote about it in this March 15 article. Eastman likes it. It’s fairly new, though, and still a little rough around the edges. (It looks much better in Firefox than in Internet Explorer, for example.)

Thanks to Lynne Brooke for the pointer to the WSJ article.
