Do You Have a Family Health Tree?

You may have noticed in the USA Weekend April 13 that it is a very good idea to prepare a family tree representing at minimum the health conditions of three generations of your family – your parents, siblings and children, then grandparents and more.

You can store all your info online at the Surgeon General’s “My Family History Portrait” (familyhistory.hhs.gov). Update it or print to share with your doctors. Other sites to look at American Society of Human Genetics (talkhealthhistory.gov) or Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Public Health Genomics (cdc.gov/genomics/famhistory).

At the very least, enter health conditions in your Notes on your Family Tree. They can prevent or reduce your risk of suffering with the same conditions.
