Ed Aurand, our faithful Friday-afternoon facilitator, passed away last Friday. The following obituary appeared in today’s Arizona Daily Star:
Edwin Leroy Aurand, 90, of Oro Valley, AZ passed away on February 8, 2013. The Memorial Service will be held Thursday February 14, 2013, 3:00 p.m. at Vista De La Montana Methodist Church, 3001 E. Miravista Lane. [Miravista Lane is in Catalina, and runs west from Oracle Road across from Coronado Middle School.]
Ed was born in Clearfield County, PA on October 7, 1922. He moved to Arizona in 1958 and graduated from the University of Arizona with a degree in Mining Engineering. Ed was married to Barbara Nebe on October 20, 1961. Ed worked as a mining engineer for Duval Copper Mine. He enjoyed woodworking and genealogy. He was also actively involved in his church and volunteered for the Cancer Society ‘s Discovery Shop, Seniors for Kids, and Stephen Ministries.
Ed is survived by his son, Eric (Wendi); daughter, Mary Ann (Sam); grandchildren, Ryan, Aeryn, Maya; two step-grandchildren, Shane and Ashley. Ed is preceded in death by his wife Barbara and son Edwin Nathaniel. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to the American Cancer Society.
