April 1, 2014: Stephen P. Morse’s One-Step Webpages are a tool any 21st century genealogist should be aware of. There are no databases at his website. What he offers instead are programs that search several databases at other sites at the same time, using the parameters you specify. Hence the name “one-step.” They’re best known for census and immigration records, but there are all sorts of things.
One item, for example, that hasn’t received the attention it should is at the bottom of the section “Births, Deaths, and other Vital Records” about halfway down the page. It finds your Great Grandfather in one step! So you don’t have to go looking for it, I’ve copied the link here: Where’s Grandpa?
