Ancestry Academy

This is a follow-up to Holly’s earlier post.

Ancestry just launched, about ten days ago, an instructional site it calls Ancestry Academy. Dick Eastman has a post about it. It’s not free, but it is included in the World Explorer Plus version of Ancestry to which the club subscribes. So members may use it from any of the club computers. I’ll add a desktop icon to make it easier to find.

It has a Course Library page. Some of the individual courses are currently available for free, including the one Holly mentioned. Fold3 is now also part of Ancestry and available on all computers. Other courses that are free at the moment cover Family Tree Maker, FindAGrave, and the 1940 Census. Membership-only courses include pension application records, the Civil War, and passenger arrival records. Thanks to Holly for finding this!

(Remember you might want to bring your own headphones to view a video at the club computers.)
