I requested a genealogy book via interlibrary loan from the Oro Valley Public Library. It’s here on my desk now. What surprised me is that it’s from the National Genealogical Society collection at the St. Louis County Public Library:
The National Genealogical Society Book Loan Collection (NGS)
The NGS Collection features more than 20,000 circulating volumes. Received in 2001, the collection features state, county and local histories; cemetery, church, court, land, marriage and estate record abstracts and indexes; and more than 9,500 family histories. The collection is particularly strong in materials for eastern states and New England. All items in the NGS collection may be checked out or borrowed via interlibrary loan.
That’s a really big collection. One more reason for using interlibrary loan whether through Pima County Library or through the public library system where you’re summering.
