Saturday Short: Using Online Microfilms at FamilySearch.org

Saturday, January 19th, 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. in the Welcome Center Conference Room 3, the room across the hall from the SCVGS computer room.  Please sign-up for the class at this week’s monthly meeting or on the sign-up sheet posted in the SCVGS computer room.  Instructor: Dianne Parrott

We’ll be learning to use the online microfilms at FamilySearch.org.  In a case study, we’ll find first and second immigration papers at the city and county level in Illinois.  This is information that is not available by searching for a name.

A few years ago you would have had to travel to Salt Lake City to view microfilms.  Now many, many of them have been scanned and posted to the FamilySearch website.  Come and learn the tricks to using this research source.  In the weeks following the class, I’ll set times to help you with your online microfilm research.
